Using Glassware For More Than Just Beverages

Everything looks super-impressive when served in a glass. Fast, easy, delicious and stunning. Glassware that are not primarily used as centerpieces can provide real inspiration to that dinner party. While we feature stemless glasses in this blog you can also use wine glasses, oversized glassware, and mason jars. The featured dessert which caught our eye is Silkon Chocolate Pots with Shiraz Syrup by


  • 2 cups Australian thickened cream
  • 250g dark chocolate
  • 1 cup shiraz
  • 1 cup castor sugar
  • 2 cups frozen mixed berries
  • Dark chocolate shavings, for serving
  1. Heat 1 cup cream in a small saucepan until almost simmering, remove and stir in chocolate until melted. Cool to room temperature.
  2. Whip remaining cream until soft peaks form, fold in chocolate mixture until well combined.
  3. Spoon mixture into 6 serving glasses, refrigerate until set.
  4. For syrup, combine shiraz and sugar in a small saucepan, heat gently, stirring until sugar dissolves. Bring to a gentle simmer and turn off heat immediately. Cool to room temperature, stir in berries 1 hour before serving.
  5. To serve, pile soaked berries into the serving glasses and drench with syrup. Garnish with chocolate shavings.


And, it doesn't have to be desserts. Here's a Caprese salad.


In a bowl, toss together 1 cup cubed fresh mozzarella, 1 cup cubed tomato, 1 handful roughly chopped fresh basil, olive oil, and a pinch of good-quality salt. Toss to combine and divide between two stemless wine glasses to serve.
